Silverman Thompson Client Acquitted by Jury Despite Seemingly Overwhelming Evidence

In a recent jury trial in Baltimore City Circuit Court, Silverman Thompson criminal defense attorney Creston Smith won an acquittal on behalf of a client in unusual circumstances. The alleged hit-and-run was witnessed by a Baltimore City Police Department Colonel who is chief of all detectives. The Colonel testified at trial that he witnessed the accident, chased down the defendant and positively identified him as the person involved in the hit-and -run accident. Other detectives testified that the defendant confessed to being involved in the accident and leaving the scene. The jury needed only twenty minutes of deliberation before announcing a 12-0 unanimous verdict of “not guilty”.
